Health Products Regulations for Travelers

Travelers can bring health products into Thailand for personal use only. Items must be brought in as personal effects and must not be legally prohibited. All items must comply with Thai regulations as outlined below:

1. Foods:

Imported food for personal consumption must not exceed the following amounts:

Note: The importation of cannabis-based or hemp-based foods is prohibited.

2. Cosmetics:

Travelers can carry up to 3 pieces of each type, with a total of no more than 15 pieces of cosmetics. Cosmetics containing cannabis or hemp are not allowed.

3. Medical Devices: Must be accompanied by:

  • Documents with device details (trade name, ingredients, specifications, etc.).

  • Letter explaining usage and certifying it is for personal use.

  • Medical certificate verifying the necessity of the device.

4. Medicines:

Must not exceed the amount necessary for 30 days of personal use.

5. Herbal Products:

Must not exceed quantities for 90 days of use, with supporting information for verification. Products containing cannabis or hemp are prohibited.

6. Psychotropic Substances (Type 1- 4):

Allowed only for 30 days of personal use with a medical certificate. Type 1 substances are not permitted.

7. Narcotics:

Requires prior authorization from the Narcotics Division of FDA before bringing into Thailand. Apply here.

8. Hazardous Substances for Household Use:

  • Hazardous substances of Category 1 must notify details prior to import (application procedure).

  • Substances of Category 2 and 3 can be imported in quantities not exceeding 5 kilograms/liters per shipment.
